Ferry Travel to Rhodes

Rhodes is an island in the Dodecanese, Greece, with its main ferry gateway at Rhodes Town on the northeastern tip. Arriving here suits a stay in the capital, where the medieval Old Town and the newer town are close to the harbour area. It is also a useful starting point for the east coast, including Faliraki and Lindos, although reaching those resorts requires an onward journey overland. If you are staying around Kiotari or farther south, allow for a longer transfer rather than treating arrival in Rhodes Town as the end of your journey.

Within the Dodecanese, Rhodes makes geographical sense alongside Symi to the northwest or Halki off its western coast. Pairing it with a smaller island gives you a contrast between a substantial island with several distinct holiday areas and a more compact destination. Kos lies farther northwest, making it a different proposition from a short geographical hop to one of the closest islands. The practical trade-off is between spending more of your holiday exploring one island and adding another sea journey, accommodation change and transfer to experience a second destination. Compare ferry arrival points alongside your accommodation locations before choosing the order of your island stays.
