Ferry Travel to Ibiza
For a ferry journey to Ibiza, an island in Spain’s Balearic Islands, the arrival port makes a useful difference to where you stay and how far you travel overland. Ibiza Town’s port lies on the south-eastern coast, making it a practical gateway for the capital, nearby Talamanca and the Playa d’en Bossa area. Sant Antoni de Portmany’s harbour is on the western coast, closer to accommodation around Sant Antoni Bay and the west-coast beaches. These ports sit on opposite sides of the island, so match the arrival point shown for your crossing to your accommodation rather than treating them as interchangeable.
Within the Balearic Islands, neighbouring Formentera is the most natural geographical pairing: it lies immediately south of Ibiza, while Mallorca and Menorca lie farther to the north-east. Staying around Ibiza Town puts you near the harbour for the sea journey to Formentera, whose port, La Savina, is on its northern shore. A day trip lets you keep one accommodation base, whereas staying on Formentera gives you more time there but adds another arrival and departure to your holiday. Combining Ibiza with Mallorca or Menorca creates a broader Balearic itinerary, but the greater distances make it better suited to a longer trip than a brief island break. When choosing your ferry, weigh the departure point and arrival port against the places you actually want to spend time, especially if your journey also includes mainland Spain.
