Ferry to Formentera

Travel by ferry to Formentera, an island in Spain’s Balearic Islands, for pale sandy beaches and a coastline edged with turquoise water. La Savina, the island’s port on its northwestern coast, is the gateway to the northern beaches, including the slender peninsula of Ses Illetes. From here, you can head inland to the island’s main village, Sant Francesc Xavier, or east towards the seaside settlement of Es Pujols, while neighbouring Ibiza lies to the north across the water. Choose your travel dates and book your ferry to begin your island escape.

Ferry Travel to Formentera

Formentera is an island in Spain’s Balearic Islands, reached by sea, with neighbouring Ibiza the natural gateway for a visit. The island has no airport, and La Savina, on its north-western coast, is its ferry arrival point rather than a choice between ports serving different resorts. Arriving here puts you close to the northern beaches around Ses Illetes, while Sant Francesc Xavier, the main village, lies inland to the south. For a stay in Es Pujols on the north-eastern coast, or around Es Caló and La Mola farther east, allow for an onward journey across the island rather than looking for a nearer ferry terminal. Choosing accommodation near La Savina keeps the port within easy reach, whereas staying farther east places you closer to the coast and villages around the La Mola plateau.

Ibiza and Formentera form the Pityusic Islands, the western grouping within the Balearics, making them a geographically coherent pairing for an island-hopping holiday. Combining the two brings Ibiza’s larger towns and broader range of places to explore together with a smaller island where beaches and villages are more closely spaced. A day visit avoids changing accommodation, but staying on Formentera gives you more time beyond the arrival area without fitting every outing around your return crossing. If Mallorca or Menorca is also part of your journey through Spain, treat that as a separate Balearic travel leg rather than an extension of a short visit from Ibiza, and leave room in your itinerary for the additional transfers.
