Teil von Spain
Explore Spain’s Canary Islands by ferry, whether you’re travelling to this Atlantic island group from the mainland or sailing between its islands. Tenerife pairs beaches with the volcanic landscapes around Mount Teide, Fuerteventura suits a beach-focused holiday, and La Gomera draws walkers to forest trails and steep green valleys. A mainland crossing makes the sea journey a substantial part of your trip, while focusing on neighbouring islands, such as Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, gives an island-hopping holiday a more manageable geographical focus. Explore the individual island and crossing pages to find the journey that suits your holiday and book your ferry.

Ferry Travel to the Canary Islands
Reaching the Canary Islands by ferry from mainland Spain means an Atlantic journey to a Spanish archipelago off north-west Africa, so treat the mainland crossing as part of your holiday rather than a quick transfer. Your choice of island can shape the whole trip: Tenerife combines volcanic landscapes around Mount Teide with coastal resorts, while Gran Canaria offers beaches, mountainous inland scenery and city time in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Lanzarote suits a trip centred on volcanic terrain and the architectural legacy of César Manrique; Fuerteventura puts greater emphasis on long beaches and open, dry landscapes. For a walking-focused holiday, consider La Gomera’s ravines and laurel forest, La Palma’s mountain trails or El Hierro’s rugged volcanic terrain. La Graciosa, just north of Lanzarote, offers a smaller setting for a beach-focused stay.
For island hopping, think in geographical clusters rather than trying to cover the whole archipelago: Lanzarote and Fuerteventura lie in the east, Gran Canaria and Tenerife occupy the central part of the group, and La Gomera, La Palma and El Hierro lie farther west. La Graciosa’s position beside Lanzarote makes those two a natural geographical pairing, while Tenerife and La Gomera offer a contrast between a larger, more varied island and a smaller destination with walking at its heart. Geographical proximity helps narrow your choices, but it does not by itself establish a direct ferry connection between any two islands. Combining neighbouring islands keeps your itinerary more compact, whereas travelling from the eastern islands to the western end of the group spreads the journey across a much wider area. Choose one or two complementary islands first, then compare ferry journeys for those stops before committing to accommodation.
