Ferry Travel to Alonissos

You reach Alonissos, an island in the Sporades in Greece, by ferry through Patitiri, its main port on the southeastern coast. Staying in Patitiri keeps your arrival straightforward, with the harbour and town together rather than an onward journey to another settlement. For Alonissos Old Town, also known as Chora, allow for a road transfer uphill: the historic village sits inland, not beside the ferry quay. If you choose a base farther along the eastern coast, such as Steni Vala, treat Patitiri as your arrival gateway and factor the onward journey into your choice of accommodation.

Alonissos fits naturally into a wider Sporades holiday with Skopelos and Skiathos, both lying to its west. Skopelos is its nearer large island neighbour, while Skiathos adds the possibility of an airport arrival or departure to a trip that also includes ferry travel. Combining islands gives you time in distinct harbour towns and villages, but each move also means packing, changing accommodation and setting aside part of a day for travel. A longer stay on Alonissos avoids those repeated moves and leaves more time to explore beyond Patitiri, particularly if your accommodation is some distance from the port. Once you have chosen your island sequence, compare ferry options for the individual legs before committing to accommodation dates.
