Part of Ferries South Europe
Explore ferries to the Croatian Islands and choose your destination along Croatia’s Adriatic coast. Brač pairs beach time around Bol with stone-built villages, while Hvar offers historic towns and lavender-growing countryside. Korčula rewards wandering through its walled old town, Mljet draws nature lovers to its forests and saltwater lakes, and Pag stands out for its stark, rocky landscapes. For a quieter island setting near Split, consider Šolta.Your arrival point matters, too: Bol and Milna are on Brač, while Hvar, Hvar Vira and Jelsa are on Hvar island. Choose the island—and the port—that brings you closer to the holiday you have in mind.

Ferries Croatian Islands: choosing your island destination
Ferry travel in the Croatian Islands connects a varied part of southern Europe, where your choice of island shapes both your holiday and your onward journey. Brač and Šolta belong to the island group off Split: Brač offers a larger island to explore, while smaller Šolta suits travellers who prefer to concentrate on fewer places. Hvar and Korčula combine historic island towns with long, elongated coastlines, making the location of your accommodation especially important when choosing where to arrive.
Farther north, Dugi Otok and Iž sit in the Zadar archipelago; Dugi Otok stretches across a long, narrow island, while Iž offers a more compact setting. In southern Dalmatia, Mljet is known for its national park and saltwater lakes, Lastovo lies farther out in the Adriatic, and Šipan belongs to the Elaphiti Islands near Dubrovnik. Pag presents a different choice again, with its exposed, rocky landscape and a bridge connection to the mainland, so a ferry need not be the only way to include it in a wider journey.
On Brač, distinguish Bol on the southern coast from Milna in the west: choosing between these ports is also a decision about which part of the island you want to reach. On Hvar, the port names Hvar, Hvar Vira and Jelsa refer to different arrival points, rather than interchangeable names for the same place. For long islands such as Dugi Otok, Hvar and Korčula, match your arrival point to your intended base before choosing a crossing, because reaching the island and reaching your accommodation are separate stages of the journey. If you want to visit several islands, start with a geographically coherent group—such as Dugi Otok and Iž, or Brač and Šolta—without assuming that neighbouring islands have a direct ferry connection.
