Teil von Italy
Off Sicily’s western coast, the Egadi Islands are an Italian island group to explore by ferry, with Favignana, Levanzo and Marettimo offering three distinct escapes. Choose Favignana for cycling and turquoise coves, Levanzo for a quieter village atmosphere, or rugged Marettimo for coastal walks and mountain scenery. Sicily is the starting point for the crossing; Favignana and Levanzo lie close together, making them a natural pairing for island-hopping, while Marettimo sits farther west and deserves more time to explore. Choose your first island and travel dates to find a ferry crossing for your trip.

Ferry Travel to the Egadi Islands
Travellers reach the Egadi Islands by ferry from western Sicily, with Trapani the main gateway to this Italian archipelago of Favignana, Levanzo and Marettimo. If you are coming from mainland Italy, make western Sicily your starting point for the island crossing. Favignana, the largest of the three, suits a stay built around cycling and swimming, with relatively gentle terrain and coves spread around its coastline. Levanzo is much smaller, with a compact harbour village and hilly footpaths, making it a good choice for exploring on foot rather than covering ground by road. Marettimo, the westernmost and most mountainous island, is particularly appealing if walking is central to your holiday and you want time to explore beyond the village.
For island hopping, Favignana and Levanzo form the closer geographical pairing, while Marettimo sits farther west and adds a more substantial leg to a journey through the group. Combining Favignana and Levanzo gives you a contrast between a larger island suited to wider exploration and a smaller one where village life and walking take the lead. Including Marettimo broadens that contrast, but dividing a short visit among all three leaves less time for the walks, swimming stops and unhurried meals that make each island worth visiting. A single base keeps accommodation changes to a minimum, whereas splitting your stay lets you spend evenings on different islands without fitting every visit around a return crossing. When booking, compare your arrival, onward and return sailings together so that the island sequence works as one journey.
