Ferry to Bornholm

Teil von Denmark

Travel by ferry to Bornholm, Denmark’s island in the Baltic Sea, and look forward to rocky shores, fishing villages and sandy beaches. Rønne, the main town on the west coast, offers a useful geographical starting point, with cobbled streets and half-timbered houses to explore. Head north for the dramatic coastline around Hammershus castle ruins, or south towards Dueodde for broad stretches of fine white sand. Choose your crossing to Bornholm and book the sailing that suits your holiday plans.

Ferry Travel to Bornholm

Travelling by ferry to Bornholm brings you to Denmark’s Baltic Sea island, where Rønne, on the west coast, is the main ferry gateway. Arriving here puts you close to the island’s largest town and makes a base in Rønne or along the west coast a straightforward choice. For Allinge and Sandvig in the north, continue inland towards your accommodation rather than treating the arrival town as a separate holiday stop. Gudhjem and Svaneke lie on the eastern coast, so staying there means an onward journey across the island after the crossing. If your priority is the sandy southeast around Dueodde, allow for that transfer when choosing your arrival and accommodation dates.

Bornholm sits east of southern Sweden, apart from Denmark’s main islands, so it works best as a distinct stage of a wider Danish holiday rather than a brief detour. Copenhagen, on Zealand, offers a contrasting city stay, but combining the two means setting aside time for the journey as well as for exploring each destination. Southern Sweden is another geographically logical addition, particularly if your wider itinerary already includes Skåne; adding both Sweden and Copenhagen, however, creates more travel stages and leaves fewer uninterrupted days on the island. Choose your island base first, then compare ferry journeys around the time you want to spend there and your next destination.
